Entries must be submitted with a postmark no later than July 31, 2007.
RULES:
Rules are the same as the previous year. Please note that
any past Gold certificate winners are ineligible to enter.
Eligibility
Requirements and Rules of Contest
Artists
1
Open to any member in good standing of a GSBF club or affiliate
club.
2
Contestants must reside in California or in the affiliated
geographical zones as outlined in the GSBF bylaws.
3
Officers and Trustees of GSBF and Contest Committee members are
ineligible to enter.

For the Beginner Category, the artist should be engaged in
bonsai for a period not to exceed 5 years. The Open Category has
no time restrictions.

The artist must certify that he/she is an amateur by signing
the contest application.
Trees
1
An Open Category bonsai must have been in the artist’s possession for
at least 5 years.
2
A Beginner Category bonsai must have been in the artist’s
possession for at least 2 years.
3
All submittals must be postmarked by July 31, 2007.
4
A maximum of one tree may be submitted for judging, per person.
Materials to be
submitted
1
A contest application form, brief history and photos of bonsai must be
submitted.

Four current (within the calendar year) 4”x6” prints either in color
or black and white. The front, right side, left side and back of the
bonsai must be shown in the photos.

A history of the bonsai must be typewritten in English and not more
than one page in length.

All of the materials should be submitted in a presentation folder or
notebook. Place the completed application form in a sealed
unmarked envelope, and tape the envelope to the inside of the back
cover. Place the pictures and history of the bonsai in clear
plastic sleeves.
Judging
1
The Contest Committee will review all submissions and will verify the
eligibility of each submission.

A chosen panel of Judges will receive the submissions from the Contest
Committee.
3
The Judges will choose the winners of each Category based on the one
criteria of “design quality”.
4
The first place winner in each Category will receive a Gold
certificate.
5
Bonsai showing exceptional merit will be awarded a Silver certificate.
This may include more than one bonsai per Category.
